The annual Bird Dog Parade will once again kick-off National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2017 at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday, February 17 at 11 a.m. Presented by Federal Premium Ammunition, National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic will take over Minneapolis, Minnesota the weekend of February 17, 18 & 19. This year’s show will feature the largest Bird Dog Parade to date with over 40 breeds and 100 bird dogs participating. 

Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton, South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard and Congressman Collin Peterson (MN-7) will be participants at the National Pheasant Summit, a featured event at Pheasants Forever’s National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic

Pheasants Forever & Quail Forever is excited to announce a new exhibitor area at the 2017 National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic devoted exclusively to the connection between honey bees, monarch butterflies, pheasants, quail and quality habitat. 

Landowners in northeast Colorado now have expanded opportunities to voluntarily enroll property in a popular continuous Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) practice over the coming months. Thanks to a new allocation of CRP acres by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency, the State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) practice – Upland Bird – now has 20,000 acres available for enrollment to landowners interested in creating and conserving upland habitat.

In 2016, Pheasants Forever, Inc., including its quail division, Quail Forever, improved habitat for pheasants, quail and other wildlife on more than 1.7 million acres. These accomplishments are attributed to working with more than 31,000 individual landowners, and chapter affiliates completing more than 15,200 wildlife habitat projects across the United States and Canada. 

Pheasants Forever and partners have acquired 160 acres in western Minnesota as an addition to the Lac qui Parle Wildlife Management Area. 

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have revealed the 2017 headlining presenters for the Wild Game Cooking Stage at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic. Minnesota natives Amy Thielen, Jack Hennessey, and Jamie Carlson will be joined by returning chef, Hank Shaw, to provide flavorful wild game demonstrations at the Minneapolis Convention Center on February 17, 18 & 19.

Landowners in Iowa now have expanded opportunities to enroll property in a popular Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) practice. Thanks to a new allocation of CRP acres by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency, the State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) CRP practice – including Iowa Pheasant Recovery, Gaining Ground for Wildlife, and a new Early Successional Quail Habitat initiative – total 115,000 acres and are now available to landowners interested in creating and conserving upland habitat for pheasants, quail and other grassland wildlife.

Pheasants Forever volunteers in Texas have expanded the organization’s influence for wildlife habitat conservation and youth education with a new chapter start in Hale County.

Pheasants Forever has formed a new partnership in Minnesota to embrace precision ag technology as the bridge to achieve habitat, water quality and farmer profitability outcomes. Collaborating with AgSolver, Stearns County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD), and the Sauk River Watershed District (SRWD), the partners are working together to combine business, agronomic, and conservation planning services (precision Ag business planning) for producers in central Minnesota.

Thanks to a new allocation of CRP acres by the USDA’s Farm Service Agency, the State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) practice – Back Forty Pheasant Habitat - now has 50,000 acres available for enrollment to landowners interested in creating and conserving upland habitat for pheasants, quail and other grassland wildlife.

Pheasants Forever was recently presented with the 2016 National Land Protection Award by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (USFWS) for the organization’s outstanding efforts to permanently protect critical habitat for pheasants, waterfowl, and other wildlife.

In a move applauded by Pheasants Forever and the nation’s conservation community, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will offer farmers and ranchers 1.1 million acres to participate in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).

Every dollar raised for Give to the Max Day – from November 1 through November 17 – will be matched up to $10,000 thanks to a matching grant from the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.

In an effort to highlight the organization’s growing impact on quail habitat across America’s Great Plains, Quail Forever joins Pheasants Forever’s Rooster Road Trip 2016 - Upland Nation for a second week of public lands upland hunting. A fresh group of wingshooters will head to Oklahoma for the state’s quail opener with online reports starting on Monday, November 14th, and further reports from Kansas and Nebraska throughout the week.
