Help Make the Uplands a Priority in the Ever-Evolving Political Landscape.
At Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, one of our key priorities is to drive science-based, bipartisan conservation policy at the highest levels of government to protect and restore America's grasslands. Policy decisions made in Washington, D.C. and state capitals across the country determine whether conservation succeeds or fails on a landscape scale.
The rampant loss of upland habitat across the pheasant and quail range continues, and emerging threats demand urgent action. The attacks on America's conservation legacy make it clear: We need your support of the Legislative Action Fund to help defend our uplands and our way of life.
We Are Leading the Way on the Most Important Conservation Policies in America:
- Shaping the next Farm Bill to help farmers and ranchers elevate upland habitat and hunting access on private lands, while remaining economically strong.
- Strengthening and improving the Conservation Reserve Program—the single most important program for grassland wildlife—to drive landowner demand and maximize enrollment towards the 27-Million- acre cap.
- Securing $2.7 Billion in federal conservation funding that helps public and private land managers conserve and restore habitat.
- Fighting state-level threats to wildlife habitat conservation and launching new efforts to generate conservation funding in statehouses nationwide.
Your support of the Legislative Action Fund will ensure that pheasants, quail, and the grasslands they depend on, have a voice at every policy table. It will allow us to not just respond to threats, but to proactively build a stronger conservation future. Your investment will drive meaningful, lasting impact where it matters most.
Conservation Advocacy Success
With the support of passionate advocates, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have achieved real victories in the past year:
Federal Advocacy Work
- We rallied our conservation peers and activated our supporters to oppose the mandatory sale of federal public lands in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”. Thanks to this effort, the provision was withdrawn, protecting public lands and the habitat and access they provide for all Americans.
- We helped reopen the USDA's Conservation Reserve Program signups, creating meaningful opportunities for more habitat, cleaner water, and stronger wildlife populations.
- We helped secure passage of the federal EXPLORE Act, a generational investment in ensuring recreational access to America's public lands and waters.
State Advocacy Work
- We provided leadership for the introduction of a bill designed to create sustainable conservation funding in the state of Kansas.
- We supported a bill in Georgia to provide hunter safety courses in schools to help cultivate the next generation of hunters and conservationists.
- We mobilized members and supporters in Minnesota to help pass a ballot initiative maintaining use of lottery proceeds to fund the Environment and National Resources Trust Fund. This will allow PF to continue conserving more than 45,000 acres of habitat per year.
- We helped defeat the IWILL resolution in Iowa aimed at repealing the voter-approved Natural Resources and Outdoor Recreation Trust Fund.
- We supported legislation in Montana authorizing the use of tax revenues from recreational marijuana sales, about $10 Million per year, to support conservation projects on private land.
These critical advocacy wins wouldn't happen without supporters of the Legislative Action fund. With your gift, we can do so much more.
