Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are organizing an inaugural "Gala for the Grasslands" fundraiser in Minneapolis on February 19, 2026. This event will highlight the vital importance and function that grasslands have for upland birds, other wildlife, water, and people.
Our grasslands are some of the most threatened places in the world. Only 5 percent of the United States' original prairie landscapes remain. Since 2009, the Great Plains have lost more than 53 million acres of grasslands—an area the size of Kansas—to development. Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have been at the forefront of protecting these grasslands. Since 1982, the organization has permanently protected 238,860 acres and improved over 28.8 million acres of habitat.
We must continue to act and raise awareness for the grasslands. The Gala for the Grasslands is a unique opportunity to help protect our grasslands. Please join Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, and other passionate conservationists on February 19 to learn more about our nation's grasslands and ways to help.
