Pheasants Forever Regional HQ Grand Opening, State Meeting to be in Brookings

Pheasants Forever’s 2015 upland conservation efforts in South Dakota kick off in a big way in Brookings on January 23 & 24. At 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, a grand opening – including South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard - will be held for Pheasants Forever’s new Regional Headquarters in Brookings. Pheasants Forever’s 2015 South Dakota State Meeting is Saturday, January 24 and includes an 8:30 a.m. address by Howard Vincent, Pheasants Forever’s President and CEO.

State meeting presentations include guest conservation leaders from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Natural Resources Conservation Service, South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks, and Pheasants Forever. Afternoon breakout sessions will follow the morning guest speakers, along with an awards luncheon.

“We are looking forward to the grand opening ceremonies at the regional fffice Friday with Governor Dennis Daugaard," said Mike Stephenson, Pheasants Forever’s regional representative in South Dakota. “The governor, along with our volunteers and members, understands the importance of keeping excellent wildlife habitat in the Pheasant Capital. I am excited to celebrate the accomplishments and provide updates on our grassroots mission here in South Dakota.”

Four months ago, the Governor’s Pheasant Habitat Work Group released its Final Report, which highlighted eight recommendations for improving the quantity and quality of suitable pheasant habitat in South Dakota. The state meeting’s lineup of upland conservation leaders highlights progress toward a second recommendation to “facilitate greater collaboration among conservation partners to better utilize available resources for improving habitat management.”

The grand opening for Pheasants Forever’s Regional Headquarters is at 2301 Research Park Way, Brookings, S.D. 57006. Pheasants Forever’s 2015 South Dakota State Meeting will be held at the Staurolite Inn in Brookings, located at 2515 E. 6th Street, Brookings, SD 57006. The event is open to the public.
