The sun was cresting over the horizon as we pulled into the 1,080-acre Kansas Veterans Wildlife Area. This property was acquired through Pheasants Forever’s Build A Wildlife Area (BAWA) program and transferred over to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks & Tourism and adds to the existing recreational complex made up of the 1,547-acre Sherman Wildlife Area (SWA) and the Smoky Gardens Soldier’s Memorial area located in Sherman County, Kansas. Later that day we tried our hand at two more publicly accessible properties and witnessed a stunning sunset on a beautiful Walk-in Hunting Access (WIHA) property.
