Get busy, get dirty during Hands-On Habitat Month

Is there anything more “PF” than gathering with friends old and new to get legs moving, hands dirty and hearts beating out on the land, working on a habitat or land improvement project?

Is there anything more “PF” than the idea of participating in a workday that directly benefits wildlife, people, public lands and the entire local community?

Once again, May is Hands-On Habitat Month at Pheasants Forever. Year by year, the initiative continues to gain momentum. Is this the year you get involved?

Last year was a real success. More chapters than ever got into the act, nationwide. Volunteers came out of the woodwork (er, prairie grass) and contributed. This year, we are aiming to make the initiative even bigger. Is this the year you pull the trigger and get out there with us?

If you are a chapter leader or committee member, what an opportunity to make a difference on lands near you.

If you have been thinking, “I need to do something for conservation,” find a project near you and get out there.

Go to Pheasants Forever’s Hands-On Habitat Page to sign your chapter up. That page is also the place to go to find a chapter and Hands-On Habitat project to volunteer on, near you.

It is that simple.

What are some project examples? You name it. If it matters to your local community and public lands, or otherwise supports conservation near you, it is game-on. Examples include:

  • Trash clean-up and pick-up
  • Junk and old fence removal
  • Brush cutting and management
  • Invasive species control
  • Habitat establishment projects from pollinator plots and food plots to wildlife shrub plantings
  • Habitat restoration and recovery projects of every description
  • Sign, parking lot and trail maintenance
  • What work is needed on lands near you?

If it needs doing, a Hands-On Habitat workday is the time to do it.

May is Hands-On Habitat Month. Get a project going. Get out there and get your hands dirty.

Beyond making a difference for conservation, we’ll guarantee you three other things at the end of the day:

  • You’ll get good work done
  • You’ll make new friends
  • You’ll be the best kind of tired at the end of the day
