Members are excited to expand upland hunting opportunities in their community
Pheasants Forever (PF) is excited to introduce a new chapter in Ohio. The Champaign Clark Chapter plans to focus on outreach and education in their community, gain more support for PF’s mission and offer opportunities for outdoor activities.
Unique among national conservation organizations, chapters of Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever retain 100 percent decision-making control over fundraising dollars, allowing volunteers to support impactful wildlife habitat projects, public access initiatives and conservation education programs throughout the upland bird range. PF & QF’s regional representative for Ohio and West Virginia, Austin Roby, will work closely with the new chapter to support the organization’s vision to sustain abundant populations of wild pheasants, quail and other wildlife.
“I look forward to working with Jerry and the Champaign Clark Chapter to increase awareness and introduce more people to the outdoors through hunting and other outdoor activities,” Roby said. “There’s a quote I love that truly represents this chapter and their dedication to getting people involved in the outdoors – ‘In the end we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught. - Babo Dioum.’”
The group formed after chapter president Jerry Gullet contacted Roby, expressing interest in starting a chapter. They have already hosted a youth hunt, and had a great turnout at the event. With the local interest in upland hunting, chapter volunteers plan to expand on this by continuing to introduce outdoor activities to new audiences through mentored hunts. The next chapter meeting will be held on December 11 at 7 pm.
