Position Will provide leadership in the expansion of philanthropic support

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever are proud to announce Jake Hanson has been promoted to the role of director of development. In his new role, Hanson will be responsible for advancing the organization’s mission by leading a comprehensive major gifts program, designed to grow philanthropic support in collaboration with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s employee team, donors, members, volunteers and partners.

“We’re excited about the impact Jake will have on our conservation efforts. Jake is a consistent, top performer who is well positioned to help lead the major gifts team into the future,” said Jordan Martincich, Pheasants Forever’s vice president of development. “His experience building winning teams, and his passion for upland birds will serve him well in his new role.”

Continuing a strong culture of philanthropy among Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever constituents is a top priority for the position, which includes but is not limited to — leadership gifts and major gifts, elite membership, charitable bequests, corporate philanthropy, gifts of real estate and grant funding. The role is tied directly to Pheasants Forever’s and Quail Forever’s vision for the future of upland habitat, made possible in part by expanded philanthropic support inspired by a robust team of fundraising professionals.

Hanson moved to South Dakota in 2015, where he founded the South Dakota Prairie Hills Chapter of Pheasants Forever. He has served the organization as a volunteer, chapter president, regional representative and development officer. Prior to his involvement with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever, Hanson served in a variety of leadership and fundraising roles in the nonprofit sector. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Concordia College and a Master of Science in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy and resource development from the University of Denver. Hanson resides in Sioux Falls, where he enjoys spending time with his wife, upland hunting with their two GSPs, attending music festivals and rooting for the Green Bay Packers.

“I’m honored to continue serving Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever in this new role,” Hanson said. “Within each milestone of this organization’s history, there are two common threads — collaboration and generosity. These threads will guide us into the future as we build strong relationships, involve our supporters in new ways and work together to create more habitat.”
