Hayden Outdoors partners with Pheasants Forever’s “Corners for Wildlife” program to help support upland habitat
Pheasants Forever is proud to partner with Hayden Outdoors on an upcoming event in Kansas. On November 7-9, Hayden Outdoors will host Hunt for Habitat 2025 to celebrate the Kansas pheasant opener. The event will raise funds for Pheasants Forever’s Corners for Wildlife program, which helps support upland habitat conservation in the Jayhawk state.
“We’re raising money for corners on (center) pivots,” said Dax Hayden, the owner of Hayden Outdoors and member of Pheasants Forever’s national board. “Which in our country is the most critical habitat we can get for pheasants.”
The event will take place over the course of a weekend in Goodland, Kansas, and will feature a dinner and raffle on Friday, hunting on Saturday and Sunday, as well as live music Saturday night from Aiden Logsdon and Grand Ole Opry artist Chancey Williams. Hunt for Habitat will be held in honor of Hayden’s father, John Leo Hayden.
“My dad loved to hunt birds, and hunted this area his whole life,” Hayden said. “So we’ve named the event after him this year.”
In addition to being a lifelong conservationist and habitat supporter, John Leo Hayden played a crucial role in the Build a Wildlife Area® program — facilitating Pheasants Forever's acquisition of 1,080 acres of land in Sherman County, Kansas. This land has since been transferred to the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks and is now known as the Veteran's Wildlife Area.
The Pheasants Forever Kansas Corners for Wildlife Program offers producers the opportunity to improve both ROI and habitat opportunities by providing five years of annual rental payments for planting enrolled acres into an approved conservation cover mix. The program is available to landowners in three counties in Northwest Kansas (Sherman, Thomas, Logan).
