PF's Rall Appointed to Minnesota's Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council

A Great Start on Forever: December 2008 Scott Rall of Worthington, Minn., has been appointed by Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty to the Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council. Rall is president of the Nobles County (MN) Chapter of PF and is a PF Life Member.

This November, Minnesota voters passed The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, a constitutional measure that will raise the state sales tax by three-eights of one percent - from 6.5 to 6.875 percent - beginning July 1, 2009. The Amendment will generate approximately $100 million for Minnesota's Outdoor Heritage Fund, $100 million for the Clean Water Fund, $59 million for the Cultural Heritage Fund and $43 Million for the Parks and Trails Fund - all annually - and will generate an estimated $300 million a year in today's dollars, or around $11 billion over the next 25 years.

The Lessard Outdoor Heritage Council, named after long-time State Senator Bob Lessard (who championed the Amendment) consists of eight citizens and four legislators and is charged with recommending appropriations from the Outdoor Heritage Fund to restore, protect and enhance wetlands, prairies, forests and habitat for game, fish and wildlife.

"I am honored to serve on this council," Rall said. In addition to his work with PF, Rall is an active member of organizations carrying out habitat and natural resource protection in southwest Minnesota. He has served as the president of the Southwest Minnesota Fishing Club and is a member of the National Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. He also writes a weekly outdoors column in the Worthington Daily Globe and spends much of his free time as a Labrador dog trainer. Rall has been appointed to a term that expires January 3, 2011.
