Bird Camp Diaries: August 2008

The Bird Camp Diaries are nothing more than whimsical monthly musings. I hope you find them entertaining, and sometimes thought provoking.

No Cryptid Degree of Difficulty

Story by Anthony Hauck
PF/QF Public Relations Specialist

"As the team and I began examining this area near the feet, I observed the foot which looked unnatural, reached in and confirmed it was a rubber foot."

- Steve Kulls
Executive Director of squatchdetective.com

Bird Camp Diaries: August 2008 It turns out the Bigfoot in the block of ice was...just a rubber gorilla suit. It also appears you don't need much above the neck to be Exec Direc at the Squatch website.

This shocks no mentally stable individual, but what is shocking is the extreme lameness of the hoax. While a rubber gorilla suit may have earned Harry and the Hendersons an Oscar for Best Makeup in 1987, in terms of realism today it's on par with saying Barney the Dinosaur was an exact replica of a T-Rex.

Bird Camp Diaries: August 2008 Considering the hoaxers were from Georgia, I guess that should be expected. But future Bigfoot hoaxers should give the millions of Bigfoot hunters and fanatics a little more entertainment value. Tell us that researchers melted the ice cube to discover a rubber gorilla suit, only to open the suit and find Bigfoot inside and alive, breathing through a straw. Tell us Bigfoot was found dead after rummaging through a dumpster behind a Jack In The Box, apparently dying of a trans-fat overdose. Tell us Bigfoot's legal name is Chris Kaman and he is currently under contract with the NBA's Los Angeles Clippers to play center and dispose of the post-game locker room spread. But please, please, please, no more rubber gorilla suits!

Heck, I'd love to see what you can come up with. Who knows, old Sasquatch might even net you a cool million (www.fstrailcamcontest.com)?
