Pheasants Forever's Chart Toppers
While hunting last fall out at the family 80 near Lane, South Dakota, and thinking about PF's 25th anniversary, a melody kept popping into David Lillehaug's head. Over the holidays, Lillehaug, a PF member from Minneapolis, worked with his father and hunting buddy, Lee Lillehaug, the former chair of the Music Department at Augustana College. The pair came up with a "Pheasants Forever" song in honor of the Silver Anniversary.
"The song is pretty simple and catchy and can be sung by people with no vocal training," Lillehaug said, "It can stand alone, with piano accompanying, or can be preceded by an instrumental fanfare. My father has scored the fanfare and the song for a brass quartet."
