Old man look at my life,
I'm a lot like you.

The metamorphosis spread itself out over a long enough period of time that it, for lack of a better phrase, "snuck up on me." But then, the signs - suddenly popping up all over my life - became too noticeable to ignore:
- Making "to-do-lists"
- Finding myself listening to, among others, Van Morrison...and liking it
- Pondering why baseball teams don't employ the suicide squeeze more
- Making the conscious decision to purchase shredded wheat
- Going to bed directly after Jay Leno's monologue
- Reading the "Business" section
- Changing my car's oil every 3,000 miles... instead of every 13,000
- Misplacing my keys and blaming it on somebody else
- Watching Law & Order... even Law & Order Special Victims Unit
- Planning things - sometimes even days in advance
- Questioning the fundamental abilities of today's basketball players
- Cutting my hair on a regular basis
- Public Television
- Living on this thing called a budget
- Reading autobiographies from non-sports figures
- Constantly looking for a good pair of boots
- Cattle and hog futures the subjects of everyday conversation
- Doritos and pop, which once constituted a meal, replaced by meat and potatoes
- Where are my tax dollars going?
It's happening... I'm turning into my Father. You know what? It's not such a bad thing, after all.
When you don't want to - or have money - to buy a tie, you can always pay Dad a compliment. Happy Father's Day!
