Proclamation in conjunction with opening of Pheasants Forever's National Pheasant Fest 2008
Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.
Saint Paul, Minn. - January 08 -
Saint Paul, Minnesota Mayor Chris Coleman has proclaimed Friday, January 18th, 2008, "Pheasants Forever Day." That day, Saint Paul-based Pheasants Forever (PF) will open its National Pheasant Fest 2008 and 25th Anniversary Convention at the Saint Paul RiverCentre in downtown Saint Paul.
National Pheasant Fest 2008 presented by Cabela's will be a three-day – January 18th, 19th and 20th – milestone event marking PF's 25th anniversary. The event will combine a national consumer show, habitat seminar series, and family event complete with puppies, tractors, shotguns, and art. National Pheasant Fest 2008 will be the country's largest event for upland hunters, sport dog owners, and wildlife habitat conservationists.
Fittingly, the event will take place in Saint Paul. PF formed in Saint Paul in 1982 and is currently nationally headquartered in White Bear Lake. Pheasants Forever's first chapter, the Kandiyohi County Chapter of PF, formed in Minnesota in 1983. Since its first project in 1984, Minnesota's 75 PF chapters and one Quail Forever (QF) chapter (PF's quail division) and 23,000 PF/QF members have completed thousands of projects affecting more than 184,000 acres of wildlife habitat. In fact, Minnesota PF chapters have spent more than $33.7 million on habitat and conservation education in the state.
PF will also use National Pheasant Fest 2008 to celebrate 25 years of work dedicated to the conservation of pheasants and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs. Nationwide, PF has spent over $260 million on wildlife habitat projects and conservation education. Those funds have translated into 370,000 habitat projects benefiting more than 5 million acres across the continent.
For the special price of $30, a National Pheasant Fest advance ticket includes floor admission for the entire three-day weekend, as well as a one-year membership to Pheasants Forever. The PF membership includes a free PF hat (a $17 value), a subscription to the Pheasants Forever Journal of Upland Conservation (5 issues) and PF member card and decal. Purchasing advance tickets to National Pheasant Fest is a $77 value at less than half the price, a savings of over 60 percent! Tickets are available at any Ticketmaster outlet (find links at www.NationalPheasantFest.org) or by calling (651)989-5151. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Saint Paul RiverCentre Box Office (located in the southeast lobby of Xcel Energy Center). Adult daily tickets are $10 and youth ages 6-16 are $5.
