Five Question Friday: Rick Tebbs

Five Question Friday with Rick Tebbs. Tebbs is a charter member of the Lee County (Iowa) Chapter of PF.
PF: Every county in Iowa now has a PF chapter. As an Iowan, what does that mean to you?
RT: The Iowa legislature does not spend as much on natural resources as other states. In fact, Iowa's environmental spending falls way short. For Iowa to have a Pheasants Forever chapter in every county shows the support its residents are willing to give to natural resources. The millions of dollars spent each year by Iowa Pheasant Forever chapters go a long way in providing wildlife habitat and youth education. I'm proud to be one of the thousands of members making a real difference.
PF: What are the most brutal conditions you've ever hunted pheasants in?
RT: I've hunted whitetail deer in temperatures as low as -20, waterfowl in 70 mile an hour winds, and pheasants in five foot snow drifts where the birds could only be found in cattails and red cedar draws, but nothing is harder to hunt in than a 40-degree pouring rain.
PF: Where does your affiliation rest - University of Iowa or Iowa State?
RT: When Iowa and Iowa State play against each other, it is always a good game because I have no strong affiliation for either team and always cheer for both.
PF: The best dollar you ever spent was where?
RT: The best dollar I ever spent was taking my 14 and 9-year-old boys hunting. Nothing is better than watching them harvest their first squirrel, teal, or pheasant and then showing them how to prepare their harvest for the dinner table.
PF: What's Rick Tebbs' idea of the ideal Saturday?
RT: The ideal Saturday is sitting in a duck blind when a strong cold front ushers in thousands of migrating waterfowl, making the day a true grand passage of waterfowl that few have ever seen.
