Wanted: Missing Breeds for the Bird Dog Parade at Pheasant Fest

The annual Bird Dog Parade will once again kick-off National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic 2017 at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday, February 17 at 11 a.m. Presented by Federal Premium, National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic will take over Minneapolis, Minnesota from February 17 to 19.   
At 11 a.m. on Friday, a crowd will gather at the Minneapolis Convention Center to see flushers, pointers, setters, and retrievers gather, led by their owners, in the grand opening of the nation’s largest upland event. The Bird Dog Parade is presented by Purina Pro Plan and South Dakota Tourism.
 
This event prides itself on showcasing the diversity that exists among our beloved sporting dog breeds. Below is a current list of the breeds we are missing from the Bird Dog Parade. If you have one of these breeds, show it off by signing up for the Bird Dog Parade. All parade participants will walk the parade route to the ribbon cutting ceremony that will open up the weekend show.

*Note: If your breed is not listed below, please still sign-up. We can have more than one dog from each breed. This list will be updated as forms come in.

  • American Stabyhoun
  • Drentsche Patrijshond
  • Field Spaniel
  • French Spaniel
  • Irish Water Spaniel
  • Sussex Spaniel
  • Welsh Springer Spaniel
To participate, please complete the Bird Dog Parade sign-up form and return it by February 1 to Emy Marier at emarier@pheasantsforever.org. We will keep in touch with all participants via email as we get closer to the event. Emy can also be reached by phone at (651) 209-4973. 
 
Parade check in will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Friday, February 17 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Each dog owner/walker along with their bird dog will walk the parade route, stopping on the parade stage where your name, dog’s name, and breed will be announced before each pair continues on to the show floor. The parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will last 45 minutes. Additional event details can be found online.
